“Good-bye smelly garbage. If every home had a worm compost box there would be no food scraps to throw out. The days of smelly garbage would be over.”
Here a child expresses spontaneously in her art the values she lives at home and at school. She draws, cuts out, mounts, and captions her family’s simple living values. All the venting and raging, preaching and teaching we adults may do does little but sour the days of our children’s lives and send them out into our world feeling hopeless and depressed, desperate for mindless escapism. Living our values as everyday life, joyfully and in small ways, both at home and at school lets our children build character, find meaning, and explore for their own purpose in life.
