Let’s study the map – our country, our people; we deserve better, we can do better. But it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get us there. Here is one powerful way to address the various types of violence among our people.

When we live in a Montessori community such as ours, it’s easy to believe that no one today would spank a child – no school, no parent. We are inclined to believe that once we make the breakthrough, once we really get it, that something is deeply wrong such as monarchy, child labor, slavery, inequality for women, spanking, etc…no one does it any more. Once we have enlightened ourselves, we tend to find it impossible to believe any of us ever thought it acceptable – and therefore certainly no one today would ever actually commit it.

But here’s the truth we must face and the work we have ahead of us.
