Stop. Rushing. Babies! Let’s join them in relishing where they are in the present moment! The true value of development lies in its independent achievement – in the baby’s own time and in the baby’s own way. Rushing, pushing, “helping” for earlier development, cheats the moment of its wonder and pleasure as well as setting in motion a pattern and forming a habit of devaluing the present and cheapening the future.

Living out a lifetime of such a pattern and habit can make for relentless striving, anxiety, and insecurity; an experience of emptiness and depression. Yesterday is always a disappointment; now is never satisfying, and the future never comes.
